In celebration of National Doughnut Day, we bring you an amazing recipe for Apple Caramel Doughnut Drops.

What you’ll need:

  • 4 trays of Dippin’ Stix Sweet Gala Apples with Caramel, dice the apples
  • 3/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 teaspoons dry active yeast
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 3 3/4 cups Gold Medal All-Purpose Flour
  • 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted

Heat oven to 350°F. Line bake sheet with parchment.

1. Place  water, yeast, salt, eggs, sugar, apples, flour, and butter in a bowl.

2. Use a spoon or a sturdy  spatula fold batter until evenly mixed.

3. Let the dough rest at room temperature covered, for two hours. Transfer dough to refrigerator and chill for at least 3 hours.

4. Remove dough from refrigerator. Transfer dough to a plastic icing bag and pipe out doughnut drops onto parchment paper.

5. Bake at 350 °for about 18 minutes. Remove from oven and transfer doughnuts to cooling rack.

Place 3/4 cup confectioner sugar in bowl and add  one tablespoon of milk (2-3 total) at a time and stir after each addition. Add more milk as needed to achieve a glazing pour.

1. Place finished glaze in a bowl and dip tops of doughnuts into mixture. Return dip doughnuts to cooling rack.

2. Using caramel from Dippin’ Stix trays, drizzle caramel on top of glazed doughnut.

These are best warm and will be gone before you know it. Thank goodness for Doughnut Day!
